Who Am I?

Ralph J. CHE is a Cameroonian born fine artist. He did drawings on paper with pencils and ink for several years through his primary and secondary education before getting into painting. In 2002 he represented the University of Buea in the painting category at the University Festival of Arts and Culture (UNIFAC) and it was during this period that he decided to invest in his art and to take it beyond borders.

The sefl-taught artist is a contemporary surrealist who paints in a classical style. Whether or not one is versed with the elusive language of visual design, his paintings communicate with the viewer as he purposefully recreats day to day life on canvas.
''I take it as an opportunity to learn about a person; their essence, who they are, where they've been, the image they project. I set out to create a record of someone's whole being through a beautiful and well composed work of art.''

He won a gold medal in painting at Cameroon's National Festival of Arts and Culture in December 2008. Apart from numerous group exhibitions in Cameroon, his work has also been exhibited in NigeriaAustralia, U.S.A. and the UK.

He moved to the UK in September 2009. He successfully completed the Spring Term Painting course at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College of London in 2010.

Ralph has taken part in several group exhibitions in the UK.
